Can I Use My Medisave to Pay for Dental Crowns?
Similar to other dental treatments such as braces, dental crowns are not considered a surgical procedure based on the Ministry of Health's guidelines.
Hence, you are not allowed to make use of your Medisave to pay for the treatment costs associated with the dental crown procedure.
Are Dental Crowns Covered Under Dental Insurance?
As a general rule of thumb, dental insurance in Singapore does not cover the cost of a dental crown treatment.
Are Dental Crowns Eligible for Government Subsidies?
Yes, dental crowns are eligible for the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) subsidy. CHAS is a government initiative that provides medical and dental subsidies to middle/low-income Singaporeans.
The treatment is restricted to metal or porcelain crowns and the individual amount of subsidy are as shown in the table below.
To qualify for this subsidy, be sure to visit participating dental clinics that are under the CHAS scheme. These dental clinics would usually display the CHAS sticker prominently, or you can call your preferred clinic directly to check.
To qualify for the subsidies, be sure to bring along your CHAS card and your NRIC to the dental clinic.
