In Singapore, it is especially important that we floss our teeth regularly and that is due to the rich diet that we have.
Take 30cm of floss and wind most of it around each middle finger. You should leave out a few cm.
Hold the floss straight between your index fingers and thumb and slide it up-and-down between the teeth.
Now curve the floss around the base of every tooth and make sure to go beyond the gumline. Don’t force the floss; you might get injured.
When you move from one tooth to the next, use the clean section of the floss every time.
For removing the floss, use the same motion to take the floss up and away from the teeth.
You should either use a nylon floss or a PTFE floss. Both waxed and unwaxed versions of nylon floss are present. It consists of many strands of nylon and sometimes these may tear. PTFE floss is expensive, but it doesn’t tear. If used with care, both types of floss can do the work well.
According to dentists, you must spend at least 2 minutes brushing your teeth twice a day. Flossing takes another minute. You should start on the upper right and go all the way around to the upper left. They start from the lower left to the lower right. If you are too tired to brush even at the end of the day, you should at least spend 60 seconds flossing your teeth. It will keep your teeth healthy.
